Workshop: How can SMEs empower women, workers and producers to reduce gender–based violence at workplaces and in supply chains?

This interactive workshop explores the root causes and realities of gender-based violence (GBV). In many contexts, GBV is increasing despite years of awareness-raising efforts. The workshop focuses on its impact on workplaces and supply chains with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Together, participants will identify practical, business-friendly strategies to create safer, more inclusive and accountable work environments.
Member organisations of Swiss Fair Trade, Sustainable Textiles Switzerland (STS) and interested SMEs are welcome to register and participate in this half-day, in-person workshop conducted in English.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about key concepts such as gender, gender-based violence (GBV), sexual harassment as one form of GBV, unconscious bias and consequences on GBV in the current context
- Learn about the Swiss and international context and exchanging on ideas and strategies for measures to apply in own supply chains in small groups
- Learn about ways how companies can prevent GBV and what victims of GBV find helpful in their healing
The workshop includes a keynote presentation from Prof. Dr. Christa Binswanger, permanent lecturer on Gender & Diversity at HSG. Sara Campidelli, Sustainability Manager, will present how Odlo integrates gender consideration in its due diligence. Pierre Strub, Swiss representative at the business association amfori will present worker and women empowerment measures at producer level. Anja Seiler, Human Rights Advisor at SFT will talk about the Dindigul agreement to ending GBV in the textile industry in India.
